You may have seen famous athletes such as David Beckham and Kerri Walsh use Kinesio-tape to help their performance on and off the field/court. So what is this special tape that athletes use and how can it help us as commoners? Kinesio taping gives support and stability to joints and muscles without affecting normal range of motion or circulation. It is very effective in preventing injuries, eliminating edema, and pain management due to abnormal biomechanics. It works by using the body’s own natural health process of neurological and circulatory activation. Kinesio-taping is utilized over muscles to reduce pain and inflammation, relax overused tired muscles, and to support muscles in movement in its full range of motion. This method is a wonderful adjunct to spinal balance in expediting the road to recovery by making sure our frame, the spine and its components, as well as the muscles that hold our frame in place are fully activated.
